The Global Terrorism Database (GTD™) is the most comprehensive unclassified database of terrorist attacks anywhere in the world and is produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland in the United States. The GTD™ is the work of a dedicated team of researchers and technical staff, supported by an alumni of students. The governance of the database is assured by an advisory board which includes some of the most respected academics in the field of terrorism research.
As the most comprehensive unclassified database of terrorist attacks in the world, the GTD™ data can be purchased by commercial and non-commercial orgnaisations. It is also made freely available for academic researchers to both develop the understanding of terrorist violence and support strategies to counter the threat and effects of terrorism.
